About the Seal
The UP Kalilayan Seal was designed by Jessie Madola.
Article I, Section 3 of the UP Kalilayan Constitution states that:
The official seal of the organization will be the circle, a spread eagle at the lower half forming the arc, and the letters forming UP Kalilayan at the upper arc. At the center of the circle is the letter K of the alibata which stands for Kalilayan, and on its background are six rays of the sun representing the organization's adherence to the ideals of peace, equality, justice, freedom, cooperation and friendship. They also symbolize the flame of hope and the burning commitment of the members for the pursuit of these ideals. At the lower part of the eagle is an equilateral triangle. The eagle represents the University of the Philippines, home of the UP Kalilayan, while the equilateral triangle symbolizes freedom, justice and equality which are the common ideals of UP and UP Kalilayan. The triangle also stands for cooperation and unity within the organization. At the eagle's wing is an inscription, “1975”, the year UP Kalilayan was founded. [top]
